Worship Services

Every Sunday from 10:30 to 12:00
A coffee hour follows; a potluck lunch is held on the last Sunday of each month.

The Sunday morning worship service is the heart of the church's activities. We meet weekly for three main purposes:

  1. to praise God as the Creator of the universe;
  2. to proclaim the message that a faith commitment to Jesus Christ is the only way to eternal life; (John 14:6)
  3. to grow in our faith through prayer, digging into God's Word, and spurring one another on to be deeper followers of Jesus.

We want to be relevant to our culture without losing connection with our historic roots. There is a nursery(creche)and educational programs for children and young teens concurrent with the second half of the worship service.

Monthly Holy Communion

The ICL celebrates the Lord's Supper on the first Sunday of each month. The Communion service emphasizes the broken body and shed blood of Jesus as a substitutionary sacrifice to atone for our sins against God. The message is one of God's love for sinful people and of the certain hope of eternal life. The ICL observes an open communion table, meaning that all people are welcome to participate who have decided to believe in and receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, regardless of denominational background.

Sunday School
Sunday School classes are provided for children ages 3 to 13+. The Pre-school class is for ages 3 to 5. The Junior class is for ages 6 to 9. The Senior class is for ages 10-12. The Youth group is for 13+. An attended Nursery is provided for children under 3 years.

We teach, using material from two websites. For more information see: www.kidssundayschool.com and www.teensundayschool.com.

Children are included in the main service for the first 15 minutes of worship, singing and prayer. There is a special time with the Pastor, which is usually a 5 minute object lesson, relating to the sermon their parents will hear. They are then dismissed to their respective classes. An attended Nursery is available throughout the service. You are welcome to drop off or stay with your child.

All parents are required to fill out a registration form for EACH child. This will enable us to care effectively for your child.

Outreach
The ICL is committed to the Great Commission to develop disciples of Christ. Therefore we have an Outreach Development Team (ODT), which facilitates various strategies for doing such outreach.

Pictured here are orphaned children in Bulgaria seeing the Gospel presented by the Sianie Puppeteers. Whether through our local home study groups, short term mission trips, financial support of missionaries, the ICL gives focus toward touching others in the name of Jesus Christ.

The ICL directs a minimum of 10% of its annual offerings to a handful of Christian ministries, which pursue the Great Commission in other countries and emphasize ministries of mercy to the poor and outcast.

People in the ICL family are all welcomed and encouraged to be involved in these forms of fulfilling the Great Commission.

Fellowship Groups and Bible Studies

Fellowship Groups exist to build deeper relationships with other followers of Christ and to spur one another on through Bible study, prayer, and friendship. These groups meet at a variety of times, places and frequencies. Please check the
Church Calendar to find out the most up to date information.

Friendship Gatherings

Each Sunday, following the worship service, we enjoy a coffee hour, providing an opportunity to meet newcomers and visit with friends. On the last Sunday of each month we share a potluck lunch.

There are also a number of other social activities arranged throughout the year to provide friendship and a 'home away from home' for people in the congregation and community.

We encourage everyone to participate whenever a special event is planned.

Pastoral Care

ICL offers pastoral care in the form of visitation for encouragement and prayer for the sick and grieving and in-office biblically based counseling for those in crisis. The pastor's office is on the balcony level of the church building. It is accessed through the secondary door at Zahringerstrasse 7.

The pastor is available to serve you in helping you understand and apply the resources of faith during both the mundane, every day issues of life as well as through the major milestones such as child dedications, baptisms, weddings, and funerals. Contact the pastor at the church office for further information.
